We are delighted to be restoring this 1830's Grade II listed weaver's cottage. The property is renowned as a fine example of local Industrial Revolution architecture.
It holds significant historical value as a trading hub for cloth between Lancashire and Yorkshire. The former workshop is truly remarkable, with an abundance of space and natural light, complemented by intriguing 19th-century inscriptions on the walls, where trades and transactions were once recorded.
To enhance the views and maximise natural light on the upper floor, we have proposed a poseur-height dining booth overlooking the breathtaking Pennines, along with a drinks area and an open-plan kitchen. This will provide a flexible living space for the family. Additionally, we have proposed an extra living area on a mezzanine level, evoking the traditional ‘cockloft’ found in many weaver's cottages.
We are excited for this renovation to start on site in the coming weeks…
